Menopause Symptom Score (MRS)

Validated screening, not diagnosis. The MRS is the most-used clinical instrument for tracking menopausal symptoms. Stays on this device.

For each symptom, pick the severity you've experienced recently. The MRS is designed for repeated use — bringing a few scores over months to a clinician shows the trend, which matters more than any single snapshot.

About the MRS. Heinemann et al. 1999/2003. 11 items, 3 subscales (somato-vegetative, psychological, urogenital), total 0–44. Validated across cultures and used worldwide in research and clinical settings. The subscales matter clinically because different mechanisms drive them — for example, urogenital symptoms respond well to local estrogen alone, while vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes) often need systemic treatment. Tracking by subscale lets you and your provider see WHERE the burden lies, not just how severe.
