Contraction Timer

For active labor. Tap "Start" when a contraction begins, "End" when it stops. Stats roll up over the last hour. The 5-1-1 rule (5 min apart, 1 min long, for 1 hour) is the standard "time to call" threshold for first-time mothers — your provider may have given you different instructions.

About 5-1-1 (and other provider instructions). 5-1-1 is the most common "time to come in" rule for first-time moms in full-term, low-risk pregnancies. Your provider may have given you 4-1-1, 3-1-1, or other instructions based on your history (multips often labor faster, VBAC patients have different thresholds, group B strep+ patients may need to come in earlier for antibiotics). Always follow your provider's specific guidance over a generic rule. When in doubt, call — triage nurses are happy to talk you through it.
