Which formula to use? Mosteller is the modern default — fast, simple, widely validated for adults and most pediatric ages. Haycock tends to be preferred for children and smaller adults because it was specifically validated in that population. DuBois is the original and is still cited in some pharmacology references. For most clinical purposes the four formulas agree to within a few percent. Use whatever your institution's protocols specify.
