Why convert AVIF to PNG?

AVIF supports transparency and is increasingly served by web apps, screenshot tools, and image hosts because it's the most byte-efficient format around. Modern browsers handle it fine, but plenty of design tools, older Microsoft Office versions, and third-party uploaders still don't.

PNG is the universal lossless fallback — every tool ever made opens a PNG, and the alpha channel is preserved through the conversion. Pick PNG over JPG when the source has transparency (icons, UI captures, cut-out product shots) or when it's mostly text / line art where JPG's lossy compression would smear sharp edges.
